Capabilities

Engineering pointed at the wells that stopped paying.

Two service lines. Oil and gas drilling, completion and improved recovery on one side; mining engineering, equipment and construction on the other. Both delivered through PT DHK in Indonesia, on fifteen years of our own engineering.

The operating picture

Three problems that decide whether an Indonesian barrel is economic.

These are the constraints our engineering is pointed at. Each one has a specific answer rather than a general capability statement.

01

Brownfield depletion and production decline

Many of Indonesia’s mature assets are in natural production decline. Revitalising those brownfields at a cost that still works is what keeps them contributing to national supply.

Our answerAdvanced well intervention and stimulation programmes, including hydraulic fracturing and acidizing, to arrest the decline curve and lift ultimate recovery.

02

Drilling economics in hard lithologies

Indonesian formations are complex. A poor rate of penetration and premature bit wear are the two line items that inflate a drilling programme more than anything else.

Our answerApplication specific PDC bits engineered for the formation in front of them, to raise ROP, extend bit life, and bring the cost per foot down.

03

Lead times that outlast the rig schedule

When bits, tooling and spares are ordered from abroad, one worn bit or one failed run becomes weeks of waiting. The rig keeps costing money the whole time the replacement is in transit.

Our answerPT DHK as a real local footprint, with capital, tooling and expertise placed in country, so a repair or a replacement is an Indonesian logistics problem rather than an international one.

Tackling energy challenges through engineering, not through introductions.

Service line one

E&P and improved oil recovery engineering.

One team from the wellbore design through to the stimulation programme, so the completion is not handed between three vendors who each optimise their own scope.

One stop engineering services

  • Wellbore structure designGeological and geomechanical analysis feeding casing programmes that balance operational integrity against the economics of the well.
  • Directional and horizontal well servicesEnd to end completion design and field execution, including liner and casing deployment to the target interval, to maximise reservoir drainage.
  • Completion engineeringHigh resolution reservoir characterisation, with fracturing, acidizing, sand control and chemical water shut off combined into a programme built for one well at a time.

Well stimulation technologies

  • Extended reach sand control and gravel packingProprietary 2,000 m extended reach reverse gravel packing, engineered for unconsolidated sandstone, high gas oil ratio and high viscosity environments. It addresses sand production in brownfields and proppant flowback after stimulation.
  • Continuous gyroscopic surveyingHigh accuracy gyroscopic tools for wellbore trajectory control in mature fields where magnetic interference makes conventional surveying unreliable.
  • Directional drilling and geosteeringMWD and LWD systems for precision geosteering, to maximise reservoir contact and land the well in the sweet spot.
  • Fracturing and acidizingComplex fracture networks in tight and low permeability reservoirs, modelled before they are pumped, with temporary plugging and diverting to widen the stimulated reservoir volume.

Turning depleting assets into producing ones, rather than writing them down.

Planned in Indonesia

Premium drill bit engineering and local manufacturing.

Beyond supplying application specific bits, the plan is a bit assembly and repair facility in country: formation evaluation, fit for purpose engineering and local delivery, with a 95% rebuild and recyclability rate on used bits.

  • Exclusive customised R&DBits designed against the specific formation, targeting a 15% to 30% gain in rate of penetration through precision formation design.
  • Local assembly and productionAssembly and production lines established in country, so delivery and response cycles are measured against an Indonesian schedule rather than an export one.
  • Cost and efficiencyA localised supply chain combined with longer bit life, aimed squarely at the overall cost per foot.

Mining engineering and equipment manufacturing.

The same structure applied to the mining side: manufacture locally, build with crews who have done it at scale, and hold a position in the asset rather than only supplying it.

  • Local manufacturing of mine safety equipmentEstablishing a manufacturing base in country, bringing our FBE heavy duty anti corrosion composite technology and FRP manufacturing processes to Indonesia.
  • Mine construction and excavationMine infrastructure construction, topsoil stripping and excavation systems, drawing on a construction record built with state owned groups including China Coal, China Railway and Baotou Steel.
  • Mine development and asset operationsPartnership with, or acquisition of, Indonesian enterprises, taking part in resource evaluation, mine construction and long term operation rather than stepping away after handover.

Send us the well data. We will tell you what we would change.

Offset well results, a lithology log, or a decline curve is enough for a first technical conversation.
